When, I start working with my Reiki and Coaching Clients, I urge them to share any detail that comes up during our session and I do the same. You would be surprised at how the smallest or the silliest detail can really make a difference when healing.
Images, thoughts, feelings or even bodily aches and pains all could be telling us a much deeper, interwoven story of what is being called to surface to heal. Since, I love story as much as I love healing energy arts, when I am on the hunt for story treasure that could really enrich and transform a person's life, I call it being a Story Investigator. We each have this incredibly rich story to tell. Each golden nugget that we uncover represents a potential clue that connects the diamond story dots to another diamond story dot. From story dot to story dot, uncovering layer upon layer to connect to the real healing which then reveals the person’s unique healing story. With every discovery, I am floored. I am fascinated. I am excited. I can’t think of anything more beautiful, rewarding or humbling than being in the presence of people as they potentially heal, learn, grow and transform their lives. The work though isn’t for the faint of heart. It is rough and dirty business at times to excavate the treasures of our mind, body and soul. Climbing, digging and hauling rocks require getting real dirty. There are situations when we enter a cave of darkness with lots of hope of treasure to be found with our shovels, hemostats, sledgehammer tools but we end up needing to go deeper and deeper into the darkness of this damp place which makes us so incredibly uncomfortable. We start to lose faith of ever finding the treasure but then as we move to a defeated position, slumping over, we see something. Almost unnoticeable to the naked eye there is a flickering of light. Jumping up to go explore, we notice that we feel hope again. As we use our tools to unearth this beautiful gem or crystal prize on the other end, we find the density of the darkness lifting. As we hold this beauty, we realize that we are fully in the light again. There is no more darkness around us so all the sweat, sometimes tears and sometimes exhaustion to unearth this rarified story golden nugget was truly worth it. A weight has been lifted. A healing has happened. We feel that much closer to understanding and feeling complete in our own healing. Some of us are lucky to have only to go through that moment of excavating the story nugget only once in their lives yet some of us have a different story to tell. We are called to go to the cave time and time again until we are complete in the story of our own healing. With humor and the right support team, the journey can be so much richer and dare I say kinda fun! STORY CLUES: When looking at thoughts, often, this can lead us to potential belief systems, which may not longer be working for us. A client came to me wondering how to attract love into his life. He was having challenges locking in a first date. On paper and in photos, my client was presenting well so what was the real issue here? We uncovered that after his divorce, he said a seemingly innocent phrase to himself over and over again to move through the pain in the beginning, “I am fine by myself.” This phrase became an unconscious belief system, which was ready to be healed. After a series of sessions, we were able to unlock and heal the belief system and replace it with a healthier mantra. Yes, to all you lovers of romance, he is happily out there dating again! Do you know that stiffness and pain in the hips could be stuck emotions from loss and grief? Recently, I was doing Reiki on a client's hip, I saw this person as a child crying while curled into fetal position on the left side on my client’s childhood bed. When I brought it up, my client became emotional and remembered the entire event that I saw while doing Reiki. This ended up being a huge breakthrough. Once, we were able to link it back, then with the Reiki healing energy the stuck emotions of loss and grief started releasing and the hip started feeling better. With Reiki Healing, it can be a one-time drive-through service but sometimes when a person had a rather traumatic life event happen where Loss, Grief and Guilt have been triggered then it can possibly require more than one session. What we don’t learn in school is that Loss, Grief and Guilt are layered emotions and often more complex to heal and requires more TLC. This makes sense because these emotions are usually tied to heartbreak. Let’s face it heartbreak is as painful as being alone in the darkness of a cave trying to use a sledgehammer to find that healing crystal to breakthrough the pain. With Reiki Healing and Coaching, the heart can find its way to mending. Recently, one of my favorite experiences happened when a client shared that she saw an image of a Geisha Girl in a Hot Pink Kimono. I got so excited. Intuitively, I knew this was a jackpot of a clue. I am a former cheerleader so when healing answers are coming into focus, I am the gal screaming with the Pom-Poms on the sidelines with sheer joy for her team! If you know me in real life, then you know I am the girl that isn’t afraid to high five you or jump up in joy for your latest win! Now, let's get back to the Geisha Girl! This magnificent Geisha Girl represented one of my client’s past lives. Usually when a Past Life (PL) shows up this is a treasure trove of clues! During our Remote Reiki session, my client saw the Geisha Girl image very clearly yet she almost didn’t mention it to me for fear that it was insignificant and seeming silly. But, in story treasure hunting, the “insignificant” is that glint of light that we almost miss but ends up being the hidden diamond in the rough. Part of my job is to really listen to what my clients are saying. To authentically hear beyond the surface so I can feel what is really happening. As soon as my client mentioned this Geisha Girl, I felt that familiar ding-ding this is an important story thread to follow that could possibly break a barrier that might be inhibiting my client in the present. So, we started doing some story excavation and indeed we found a treasure chest of gold. My client said after this story dot connecting and investigating, "I almost didn't tell you because it seemed so silly. But I'm glad it did because I learned so much. My point being is that no detail is too small or silly. You can weed through them for me and help connect the dots. It's so fascinating. Love it!" In the end, I love being a miner of story riches, a cheerleader in connecting the story dots and helping people find their way to Whole Health Healing. It is truly awe-inspiring how phenomenal we each are and how much depth of rarified beauty we have within us that is waiting to be discovered. I encourage you like I do with all my clients to share all the details and keep a story-investigating journal. Remember, no detail is too small or silly for this treasure map we call Life! Much Gratitude and Love, H
